Help & FAQ
Common questions about using DeepRep.
Getting Started
- What is DeepRep? — An interview prep platform with 1,000+ problems from 500+ companies, twelve practice modes, AI-powered mock interviews, system design and behavioral interview practice, and spaced repetition across 10 programming languages.
- Where do I start? — The Skill Tree is the recommended starting point. It organizes topics in a logical learning order.
- What are Tracks? — Curated collections of problems organized by topic or company. Use them for focused practice.
Practice & Learning
- What are the workspace modes? — Write Solution (code from scratch), Arrange Code (reorder lines), Fill Blanks (complete partial code), Fix Bugs (debug code), and Review Code (critique code).
- Can I filter problems by company? — Yes. Problems are tagged with 500+ companies including Amazon, Google, Meta, Microsoft, Apple, and more. Use the company filter to practice questions specific to your target companies.
- What programming languages are supported? — Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, C++, Go, C#, Kotlin, Rust, and Swift — all with full code execution in isolated sandboxes.
- What is the Skill Tree? — A visual map of 25+ topics (Arrays, Trees, DP, etc.) with lessons and problems. Complete modules to build skills systematically.
- How does spaced repetition work? — After completing lessons, concepts enter your review queue. Review them at increasing intervals to build lasting retention.
- What is the Prep Planner? — Set your interview date and select your focus topics. The Prep Planner generates a personalized daily study schedule and tracks your progress toward interview readiness.
Gamification
- What is XP? — Experience points earned by solving problems and completing lessons. XP determines your level.
- What are Bits? — A secondary currency earned through practice. Spend Bits on streak freezes and XP boosts in the shop. See how bits are earned for exact amounts per difficulty.
- How do streaks work? — Solve at least one problem or complete a lesson each day to maintain your streak. Use a streak freeze (50 Bits) to protect it if you miss a day.
- What is the Readiness Score? — A 0-100 score measuring interview preparedness across pattern coverage, difficulty distribution, retention, and consistency.
AI Features
- How do I enable AI features? — Go to Settings, open the AI Provider tab, and add your own API key (OpenAI, Anthropic, or other supported providers).
- What AI features are available? — AI Coach (Socratic hints), Code Review, Mock Interviews, AI Insights, and Weekly Digest.
- Is there a daily limit? — Yes, AI calls are limited per day to manage costs. The limit resets at midnight UTC.
Interview Prep
- What is Mock Interview? — A real-time AI-powered coding interview simulation with configurable interviewer personality (Friendly, Strict, Socratic), code execution, and scoring across communication, problem solving, and code quality.
- What is Interview Loop? — A full 90-minute interview simulation: 45-minute coding round, 25-minute system design, and 15-minute behavioral — with a unified AI debrief across all three phases.
- What is System Design practice? — Design real-world systems (e.g. Twitter, Netflix, Uber) with AI evaluation across five technical dimensions including requirements, architecture, and tradeoffs.
- What is Behavioral Interview practice? — Practice STAR-format answers for behavioral questions from top tech companies. Get AI scoring on structure, specificity, and impact with follow-up questions.
- What is Code Rush? — Timed speed drills to practice solving problems under pressure. Choose difficulty and topic, then race the clock with streak bonuses.
